Being someone who has recently experienced the transition from college to corporate, and received a lot of advice regarding how to adjust, I'd say it's been a rollercoaster-y journey.

When I joined GreyB, one of the interesting practices (among many) that I noticed was the email writing practice. In every other internship/company I've worked with, my inbox was filled with meetings, deadlines and reminders. Here, along with the reminders and work emails, there are stories about the people I work with (sent by the people themselves).

The emails from the people (be it my fellow new joinees or those who've been here for a while), helped me get the gist of the culture of the company. The story of every person, the mistakes, progress they have made, it's like my personal handmade guide, which I can look into for any situation I face. And today, while we all are working from home, getting to know the company culture and connecting with coworkers is something that is a difficult task. Which is why this practice of sharing emails is a step in the right direction.

I was also a bit apprehensive about sharing stuff about my work and me in an email. So much so, that I kept procrastinating, my drafts kept getting stacked up but I didn't press that send button. And soon, a month passed. I wanted to write, but something kept me from posting it. I had a discussion with my team and they helped me give that push that was needed (Thank you, team :))

So, here I am.

It's been about a month since I've been at GreyB. I've done assignments, contributed to live projects, made DIAS, claim charts, did my first team activity and most importantly, made a lot of mistakes. But that's how I learnt too. Two important lessons that I realized during this first month:

(Although I subconsciously already knew both of these points, realizing it took time)

Concludingl-y, I'll be working on making this a consistent habit, sharing resources, mistakes and stories via email.

P.S. Also, I've decided at the end of every mail, I'll add something that intrigued me. Here it is.

Best,

Shreya
